Permanent Residence & Passport in Latvia 🇱🇻

Indian students who are studying for a bachelor's, master's or PhD degree in Latvia may be eligible to apply for permanent residence and a Latvian passport, but the specific requirements and processes will vary depending on their individual circumstances.

Typically, students who are studying in Latvia will first need to apply for a temporary residence permit, which allows them to reside in Latvia for the duration of their studies. Once they have held a temporary residence permit for five years, they may then apply for a permanent residence permit. After holding a permanent residence permit for at least five years, they may then apply for Latvian citizenship and a Latvian passport.

It's important to note that the process and requirements for obtaining temporary and permanent residence permits and Latvian citizenship and passport may change over time, so it's best to check with the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs for the most up-to-date information and guidance.

It's also important to note that, the student should also comply with all the laws of Latvia, and should not have any criminal records during their stay in Latvia to be eligible for Permanent residency and citizenship.
